Al-Tirmidhi, Muhammad ibn Isa

Muhammad ibn Isa ibn Sawra al-Sulami al-Bughi, a hadith scholar from Tirmidh on the river Jayhun. He wrote the "al-Jami' al-Sahih", known as the Sunan of al-Tirmidhi. He was born in 209 AH (824 CE) and died in 279 AH (892 CE). ¹

Ibn Hajar writes: Muhammad ibn Isa ibn Sawra ibn Musa ibn al-Dahhak al-Sulami al-Tirmidhi, Abu 'Isa, author of "al-Jami'" — one of the imams, of the twelfth layer; he died in 279 AH ². Al-Hububi, al-Haytham ibn Kulayb and many others narrated from him ².

Abu 'Isa al-Tirmidhi wrote the book "al-Jami'", known as the Sunan of al-Tirmidhi, one of the most famous hadith collections among Muslims; he lived in the third century of the Hijra and died in 279 AH ².

• The Taqrib vocalizes the father's name "Sawra"; the museum's summary and other works give "Sura".
