Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Ziyad ibn Abi Ziyad
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Ziyad ibn Abi Ziyad, who said: Abu al-Darda' said, "Shall I not tell you of the best of your deeds, the highest in your ranks, the purest in the sight of your King, better for you than giving gold and silver, and better for you than meeting your enemy and striking their necks while they strike yours?". They said yes. He said: the remembrance of God. Ziyad adds that Abu Abd al-Rahman Mu'adh ibn Jabal said: no deed of the son of Adam saves him from God's punishment more than the remembrance of God. The editor notes that the stopped report of Abu al-Darda' is transmitted by Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd, and that it is raised from Abu Bahriyya from Abu al-Darda' in Ahmad, al-Tirmidhi (3377), Ibn Majah (3790) and al-Hakim. Mu'adh's saying is transmitted by al-Tabarani and Ibn Abd al-Barr (al-Tamhid 6/57) from Abu al-Zubayr from Tawus from Mu'adh raised. 1 2
