Chain of transmission

  1. Malik ibn Anas
  2. Abu al-Nadr, mawla of Umar ibn Ubayd Allah
  3. Busr ibn Said

Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Abu al-Nadr, client of Umar ibn Ubayd Allah, from Busr ibn Sa'id, that Zayd ibn Thabit (may God be pleased with him) said, in the chapter on the merit of congregational prayer over praying alone: the best prayer is your prayer in your houses, except the prescribed prayer. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it as a stopped report, and that it was transmitted raised from Busr from Zayd from the Prophet ﷺ. Al-Tirmidhi (450) reports that Musa ibn Uqba and Ibrahim ibn Abi al-Nadr transmitted it raised from Abu al-Nadr, and that the raised version is sounder. He cites al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Khuzayma and Ibn Hibban for the raised form. 1 2
