Summary
Malik transmits, as a mursal report, from Abu al-Nadr, client of Umar ibn Ubayd Allah, that the Prophet ﷺ said when Uthman ibn Maz'un died and his bier passed by: you have gone and not been touched by any of its worldly things. The editor notes that Abu Musab and Suwayd transmitted it from Malik, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr (al-Tamhid 21/223-224) says it is mursal among the narrators, though it is connected through a good route from Yahya ibn Said from al-Qasim from Aisha. Al-Thawri reported from Asim ibn Ubayd Allah from al-Qasim from Aisha that the Prophet kissed Uthman ibn Maz'un while he was dead and weeping, in Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and al-Hakim, and al-Tirmidhi called it good and sound; however its chain includes Asim ibn Ubayd Allah, of whom al-Bukhari said: munkar al-hadith (a narrator of rejected reports). 1
