Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said that Aisha said: I saw three moons fall in my chamber, and I recounted my dream to Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may God be pleased with him). When the Prophet ﷺ died and was buried in her house, Abu Bakr said to her: this is one of your moons, and it is the best of them. The editor notes the wording 'in my lap' in some copies, that Abu Musab and Suwayd transmitted it from Malik, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr (al-Tamhid 24/47) says it is broken in this form by Yahya, al-Qanabi, Ibn Wahb and most narrators; Qutayba ibn Said transmitted it connected from Malik, from Yahya ibn Said, from Said ibn al-Musayyab, from Aisha, as in Abu Dawud, and Malik transmitted it both ways, so the connected version is established from other sources. 1
