Al-Bara' ibn Azib the Ansari of Aws, kunya Abu Ammara; the Prophet ﷺ judged him too young at Badr and sent him back — he witnessed Uhud and campaigned with the Prophet some fourteen expeditions.

Al-Bara' ibn Azib ibn al-Harith the Ansari of Aws, kunya Abu Ammara, also said Abu Amr; he and his father have companionship. He said: 'The Messenger of God judged me too young at Badr, me and Ibn Umar, and sent us back so we did not witness it' — and he witnessed Uhud. It is told he campaigned with the Prophet ﷺ fourteen expeditions, in one telling fifteen, and said 'I travelled with the Messenger of God eighteen journeys'. Ahmad transmits from him that they did not hear all their hadith from the Prophet directly — their companions related it, since tending camels kept them busy. He opened Rayy in 24 AH in Abu Amr al-Shaybani's saying, though others disagree; he witnessed Tustar with Abu Musa, and with Ali the Camel, Siffin and the fighting of the Kharijites; he settled in Kufa, built a house, and died under Mus'ab ibn al-Zubayr's governorship — Ibn Hibban dates him 72 AH.
