Summary
Abu Dujana al-Ansari, named Simak ibn Kharasha — or Ibn Aws ibn Kharasha, it is said 1. His presence at Badr is agreed 1.
The Prophet's sword at Uhud
He is established in Sahih Muslim in Anas's hadith: on the day of Uhud the Prophet took a sword and said "who will take this sword with its due?", and Abu Dujana (may God be pleased with him) took it and "split open the polytheists' skulls with it" 1. Al-Dawlabi in al-Kuna relates from al-Zubayr that when the Prophet offered a sword Abu Dujana rose and said "I — and what is its due?" He said: "kill no Muslim with it and flee no disbeliever with it" 1.
Defending the Prophet
Ibn Ishaq relates that when the fighting closed in, Mus'ab ibn Umayr shielded the Prophet until he was killed, and Abu Dujana until his wounds grew many 1.
His death
Ali said he was martyred at al-Yamama; it is also said he took part in the killing of Musaylima 1.
