Chain of transmission
Summary
The last report in the Book of Funerals. Malik transmits from Nafi that Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) said: hasten your funerals, for it is good that you bring them forward to, or evil that you lay down from your necks. The editor notes that one copy reads 'you bring it forward'. Abu Musab and Suwayd transmitted it from Malik. Ibn Abd al-Barr (al-Tamhid 16/31-32) notes that most of the Muwatta narrators transmit it stopped on Abu Hurayra, and that al-Walid ibn Muslim raised it from Malik without being followed; it is raised from other than Malik's transmission, from Nafi from Abu Hurayra in Ahmad, and preserved from al-Zuhri from Said ibn al-Musayyab from Abu Hurayra raised in al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and al-Nasai, and through Abu Umama ibn Sahl from Abu Hurayra in Muslim. 1
