Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi
- Abu Hurayra
Summary
Malik transmits from Said ibn Abi Said al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that he forbade that a dead person be followed with fire after death. Yahya said: I heard Malik disliking that. The editor notes that Abu Musab, Abd al-Razzaq and al-Shaybani transmitted it from Malik, that its chain is sound, and that it was also reported from Abu Hurayra as a raised report in Ahmad and Abu Dawud through a narrator who is unnamed. The report was disputed on Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, sometimes as from Abu Said al-Khudri (may God be pleased with him), an instability al-Daraqutni noted in his Ilal, so the stopped (mawquf) version from Abu Hurayra is more sound in the editor's view. 1
