Summary
A report from Malik that Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with him) used to rest his head on graves and lie down on them. Malik said: sitting on graves was prohibited, as we see it, because of relieving oneself on them. The editor notes that Abu Musab, Suwayd and al-Shaybani transmitted it from Malik, citing al-Tahawi, who reported through a client of the family of Ali that Ali used to sit on graves, and that a mat was spread for him in the cemetery, so that he would rest his head on a grave and lie down. 1
