Summary
The first report in the chapter on standing for funerals and sitting at graves. Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said, from Waqid ibn Amr ibn Saad ibn Muadh, from Nafi ibn Jubayr ibn Mutim, from Masud ibn al-Hakam, from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with him), that the Prophet ﷺ used to stand for funerals and then sat afterwards. The editor notes that Yahya's version gives Waqid ibn Saad ibn Muadh, and Abu Musab followed him, but all other narrators say Waqid ibn Amr ibn Saad ibn Muadh, which is correct, as Ibn Abd al-Barr said; he is the Ashhali Ansari, who died in 120. The report was transmitted from Malik by Abu Musab, Ibn Hibban, al-Bughawi, al-Qanabi in Abu Dawud, Ibn Wahb in al-Tahawi, al-Shafii in the Musnad, and al-Shaybani. 1
