Chain of transmission
Summary
The first report in the chapter on takbir over funerals. Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Said ibn al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that the Prophet ﷺ announced the death of the Negus to the people on the day he died, went out with them to the place of prayer, arranged them in rows, and said four takbirs. The editor notes that this was transmitted from Malik by Abu Musab, al-Bughawi and Ibn Hibban, and by Ismail ibn Abi Uways in al-Bukhari, Ibn al-Mubarak in al-Nasai, al-Qanabi in Abu Dawud, al-Tinisi in al-Bukhari, Qutayba in al-Nasai, al-Shafii, and Yahya ibn Yahya al-Nisaburi in Muslim. The report is also preserved from al-Zuhri from both Said and Abu Salama together, as in the two Sahihs, and in all the Muwattas Malik's report is from Said alone. 1
