«إذا أمن الإمام فأمنوا، فإنه من وافق تأمينه تأمين الملائكة غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on saying amen behind the imam. Yahya transmits from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab and Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him): the Prophet ﷺ ordered the followers to say amen when the imam says it, because whoever's amen coincides with the amen of the angels is forgiven his past sin. Ibn Shihab said that the Prophet used to say amen. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, Ahmad and al-Shafi'i, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1 2
