«صلاة الجماعة أفضل من صلاة أحدكم وحده بخمسة وعشرين جزءاً»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Chain of transmission
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), in the chapter on the merit of congregational prayer over praying alone: the Prophet ﷺ told that congregational prayer surpasses the prayer of one who prays alone by twenty-five parts. The editor notes that all transmitters in the Muwatta gave it with this chain, though some transmitted it from Malik through al-Zuhri from Abu Salama, and al-Shafi'i and Rawh through Malik from Abu al-Zinad from al-A'raj (al-Tamhid). 1 2
