A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Chain of transmission
Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on the places of entering ihram. Malik transmits from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: the people of Medina enter ihram from Dhu al-Hulayfa, the people of Syria from al-Juhfa, and the people of Najd from Qarn. Ibn Umar said: and I heard it said that the Messenger of God said: the people of Yemen enter ihram from Yalamlam. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1060) transmitted it from Malik, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr (al-Tamhid 15/137) said that Ibn Umar did not hear the Prophet's words about Yalamlam, and that a Companion's relayed report from another Companion is evidence. 1
