Overview

al-Juhfa: a land between Mecca and Medina. al-Mas'udi reports that Ubayl ibn Awas ibn Aram ibn Sam ibn Nuh settled there with his children and those who followed him, and that they perished in a flood. The place was named al-Juhfa because the flood swept them away. Later people of Banu Hanifa from Yamama settled there and made it their home. 2
