Summary
Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa, from his father, from Aisha, that she said: when the Messenger of God ﷺ came to Medina, Abu Bakr and Bilal fell ill. I went in to them. When fever seized Abu Bakr he would recite verses saying that every man greets his family in the morning while death is nearer than the thong of his sandal. When Bilal recovered he raised his voice with verses wishing he could spend a night in a valley around al-Idhkhir and al-Jalil, with the waters of Majanna. I told the Prophet, and he said: O God, make Medina dear to us as Mecca is, or dearer; make it healthy, bless us in its sa' and its mudd, and move its fever to al-Juhfa. 1
