«إنكن لأنتن صواحب يوسف، مروا أبا بكر فليصل للناس»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from Aisha, in the chapter on practice in the congregational prayer: in his last illness the Prophet ﷺ ordered that Abu Bakr be told to lead the people in prayer. Aisha said that when Abu Bakr stands in his place people cannot hear him for weeping, so let Umar lead. He repeated his order, and Aisha told Hafsa to say the same, and she did. He said, "You are like the women of Joseph; order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer". Hafsa told Aisha she would never get any good from her. The editor cites al-Bukhari, al-Tirmidhi, Abu Awana and al-Bayhaqi from Malik's transmitters, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1
