Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from Aisha, in the chapter on the imam praying while seated: the Prophet ﷺ prayed while ill, seated, and some people behind him prayed standing. He gestured to them to sit. When he finished he told them the imam is appointed to be followed: when he bows, bow; when he rises, rise; when he prays seated, pray seated. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Abu Dawud, Ibn Hibban, Ahmad and al-Shafi'i, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1 2
