Summary

A report that Malik transmits as a mursal from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, in the chapter on leaving ablution for food touched by fire: the Prophet ﷺ was invited to a meal, bread and meat were brought to him, and he ate and performed ablution and prayed; then the remainder of that food was brought, and he ate and prayed without performing ablution. The editor cites Ibn Abd al-Barr that the report is mursal in the Muwatta in all its transmitters, and that those who connected it through Jabir were weak. The trustworthy transmitters connected it through Ma'mar, Ibn Uyayna, Ibn Jurayj and others, and it is cited in al-Tirmidhi, the Shama'il and al-Bayhaqi. 1
