Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nafi' from Abdullah ibn Umar, in the chapter on water for ablution: in the Prophet ﷺ's time men and women performed ablution together from one vessel. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, Ibn Khuzayma and Ibn Hibban, and notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that the majority of scholars hold it is no harm for a man to perform ablution with the leftover of a woman and a woman with his, since water is made unclean only by visible uncleanness or where it is overpowered by it. 1
