Chain of transmission
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nafi', in the chapter on what does not require ablution: Abdullah ibn Umar embalmed a son of Sa'id ibn Zayd, carried him, then entered the mosque, prayed and did not perform ablution, showing that touching and carrying the dead does not void ablution. The editor explains hunut as the perfume of the dead specifically, and notes that Ibn Abi Shayba and al-Bayhaqi transmitted it by other channels. 1
