«إذا أدخلت رجليك في الخفين وهما طاهرتان فامسح عليهما»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nafi' and Abdullah ibn Dinar, both from Abdullah ibn Umar, in the chapter on wiping over socks: Ibn Umar came to Kufa to its governor Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, who saw him wiping over his socks and disapproved. Sa'd told him to ask his father when he arrived. Ibn Umar forgot until Sa'd reminded him, then asked Umar, who said: "When you put your feet into socks while they are pure, wipe over them". Ibn Umar said, "And if one of us comes from the privy?" Umar said, "Yes, even if one of you comes from the privy". The editor notes that the story is well known, reported as a stopped report by Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn Abi Shayba, and that al-Bukhari recorded the ruling on wiping over socks as raised, from Abu Salama from Ibn Umar. 1 2
