Summary
The first report in the chapter on nosebleeds. Yahya transmits from Malik from Nafi' that Abdullah ibn Umar, when he had a nosebleed during prayer, left, performed ablution, came back, built on what he had prayed, and did not speak. The editor cites al-Bayhaqi quoting al-Shafi'i, who said that Ibn Umar and Ibn al-Musayyab did not see blood as requiring ablution, and that their "ablution" meant washing the blood from the body, not the prayer ablution, since the Arabs call washing some limbs ablution. 1
