Summary

Ibn Ishaq gives this clan in the lists of the Abyssinian emigrants by its lineage: "Makhzum ibn Yaqaza ibn Murra ibn Ka'b". 1 2

Of this clan in the Abyssinian emigrants chapter

From the rest of the Abyssinian emigrants:

Abyssinian emigrant women:

Those born in the land of Abyssinia:

In the chapter on the Prophet's family in al-Raheeq al-Makhtum (p. 52)

From this clan came Fatima bint Amr ibn A'idh ibn Imran ibn Makhzum ibn Yaqaza ibn Murra, mother of Abdullah, the Prophet ﷺ's father. So Banu Makhzum were Abdullah's maternal uncles 3 4. When Abd al-Muttalib brought his son to the Ka'ba to sacrifice him in fulfilment of a vow, Quraysh stopped him, especially his maternal uncles from Banu Makhzum, and his brother Abu Talib (the vow of Abd al-Muttalib and the lot) 3 5.

Among the allies at Hilf al-Fudul (al-Raheeq al-Makhtum, p. 60)

Al-Raheeq al-Makhtum counts this clan among the "allies" against whom a man of Zubayd (al-Zubaydi) sought redress when al-As ibn Wa'il withheld his right. They were Abd al-Dar, Makhzum, Jumah, Sahm and Adi, and they paid him no heed. That was the cause of the Pact of al-Fudul, which Banu Hashim, Banu al-Muttalib, Asad, Zuhra and Taym formed 6 7.
