Overview
Abu Talib Muhammad ibn Mikail, known as Tughril Beg the Seljuk. Ibn al-Imad counts him as the first of the Seljuk kings, and their origin was in the lands of Bukhara 2.
His rule
Ibn al-Imad reports that their first realms were al-Rayy and then Nishapur, and that his brother Dawud took Balkh and other places. They divided the realms, and Tughril ruled Iraq. He transmits that he suppressed the Rafida and their emblem disappeared with them 2.
Ibn al-Imad describes him as generally just, forbearing and generous, observant of the prayers, fasting on Thursdays and Mondays, and maintaining the mosques 2.
His marriage and death
He reports that the daughter of al-Qa'im was conducted to him on the night of Monday, the fifteenth of Safar in the year 455 AH. He consummated the marriage when he was seventy years old, and had no child after her. He died in al-Rayy and was buried beside the grave of his brother Dawud 2.
