Overview
In 454 AH the caliph al-Qa'im married his daughter to Tughril Beg, according to al-Suyuti. 2
The account
al-Suyuti says that al-Qa'im resisted the matter with every means, was disturbed and asked to be excused, and then relented. He says that none of the Buyid kings had obtained the like, despite their control over the caliphs. 2
Tughril Beg came the following year, consummated the marriage with the caliph's daughter, restored the inheritances and the tolls, and guaranteed Baghdad for a hundred and fifty thousand dinars. Then he returned to al-Rayy and died there in Ramadan. 2
