Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on the building of the Kaaba. Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Salim ibn Abdallah, that Abdallah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq told Abdullah ibn Umar, from Aisha, that the Prophet ﷺ said: did you not see that when your people built the Kaaba they limited themselves to the foundations of Abraham? She said: I said: Messenger of God, will you not restore it to the foundations of Abraham? He said: were it not that your people are near to disbelief, I would have done so. Abdullah ibn Umar said: if Aisha heard this from the Messenger of God, I do not think the Messenger of God left kissing the two corners next to the Hijr, except that the House was not completed on the foundations of Abraham. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1278), Ismail ibn Abi Uways in al-Bukhari and many others transmitted it from Malik. 1
