Summary
A saying of Malik: when Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) ordered Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may God be pleased with him) and Habbar ibn al-Aswad, who had missed the pilgrimage and arrived on the day of sacrifice, to release themselves with a lesser pilgrimage and then return unrestricted, and to make the pilgrimage in a later year and give offerings; whoever cannot find one should fast three days during the pilgrimage and seven when he returns. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1167) transmitted it from Malik. 1
