Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Abdallah ibn Abi Bakr
- Amir ibn Rabi'a
Summary
Malik transmits from Abdallah ibn Abi Bakr, from Abdallah ibn Amir ibn Rabia, who said: I saw Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) at al-Arj while he was in ihram on a hot day, with his face covered by a crimson cloth; then game meat was brought to him, and he said to his companions: eat. They said: will you not eat? He said: I am not like you; it was hunted for my sake. The editor notes that the word 'Abd al-Rahman' in copy M is a clear error, and that Abu Musab (1147) and Suwayd (577) transmitted it from Malik. 1
