«إذا دخل رمضان فتحت أبواب الجنة، وغلقت أبواب النار، وصفدت الشياطين»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
Malik transmits from Abu Suhayl ibn Malik, from his father, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) as a halted report (mawquf), that he said: when Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained. The editor notes that Ma'n ibn Isa transmitted it raised in Ibn Abd al-Barr; that Ibn Abd al-Barr himself said such a thing is not an opinion, and that it is transmitted raised from the hadith of Abu Suhayl and others; the editor considers that if Ma'n's raising is sound it is an anomaly, because what is preserved from Malik is the halted version; and notes that it is in the two Sahihs (al-Bukhari 3/32 and 4/149, Muslim 3/121) through routes other than Malik's from Abu Suhayl raised, referring to al-Daraqutni's Ilal. 1
