Summary
Malik transmits from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: fasting is a shield; so when one of you is fasting, let him not speak obscenely or act foolishly; if someone fights him or abuses him, let him say: I am fasting, I am fasting. The editor notes that Abu Musab and al-Baghawi, Ishaq al-Tabba in Ahmad, Rawh ibn Ubada, Suwayd, al-Qa'nabi in al-Bukhari (1894), Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim and others transmitted it. 1
