«لو منعوني عقالاً لجاهدتهم عليه»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first report in the chapter on taking charities and the strictness regarding them. A report from Malik that it reached him that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may God be pleased with him) said: if they had withheld from me a cord, I would have fought them over it. The editor notes that this is part of the well-known report of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) transmitted by al-Zuhri from Ubayd Allah ibn Abdallah ibn Utba from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) from Umar, in Ahmad, al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasai. 1
