- Malik ibn Anas
- Muhammad ibn Shihab al-Zuhri
- Abd al-Rahman ibn Hurmuz al-A'raj
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab from al-A'raj, that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) recited Surat al-Najm and prostrated in it, then stood and recited another surah. The editor notes that this is the chain Yahya ibn Yahya gave, "from al-A'raj, that Umar", while other Muwatta copies, Abu Mus'ab (261), Suwayd (97), al-Shaybani (268) and Yahya ibn Bukayr in al-Bayhaqi, say "from al-A'raj from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that Umar". 1
