Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on enjoyment (tamattu) in the pilgrimage. Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Muhammad ibn Abdallah ibn al-Harith ibn Nawfal (may God be pleased with him) ibn Abd al-Muttalib, that he heard Saad ibn Abi Waqqas and al-Dahhak ibn Qays, in the year Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan made the pilgrimage, mentioning enjoyment of the lesser pilgrimage in the pilgrimage. Al-Dahhak ibn Qays said: no one does that except one who does not know God's command. Saad said: how bad a thing you said, nephew. Al-Dahhak said: Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) forbade that. Saad said: the Messenger of God ﷺ did it and we did it with him. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1107) transmitted it from Malik. 1
