Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on single pilgrimage. Malik transmits from Abu al-Aswad Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Urwa ibn al-Zubayr, from Aisha, wife of the Prophet ﷺ, who said: we went out with the Messenger of God in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage; some of us entered ihram for the lesser pilgrimage, some for the pilgrimage and the lesser pilgrimage together, and some for the pilgrimage; the Messenger of God entered ihram for the pilgrimage. Those who entered ihram for the lesser pilgrimage released themselves, and those who entered ihram for the pilgrimage, or combined the pilgrimage and the lesser pilgrimage, did not release themselves until the day of sacrifice. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1075) transmitted it from Malik, that al-Bukhari and others transmitted it, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr (al-Tamhid 17/239) hoped that Malik's transmission is more sound. 1
