«أحياناً يأتيني مثل صلصلة الجرس، وهو أشده علي، فيفصم عني وقد وعيت ما قال. وأحياناً يتمثل لي الملك رجلاً، فيكلمني فأعي ما يقول»

Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from Aisha: al-Harith ibn Hisham (may God be pleased with him) asked the Prophet ﷺ how revelation comes to him. He told him that it sometimes comes like the ringing of a bell, which is the hardest on him, and it departs from him after he has grasped what was said. And sometimes the angel appears to him as a man and speaks to him, and he grasps what he says. Aisha adds that she saw revelation come to him on a very cold day and it departed from him while his forehead was pouring sweat. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab transmitted it, and from him Ibn Hibban and al-Baghawi, al-Tinisi in al-Bukhari (2), and Ma'n in al-Tirmidhi (3634). One copy says "like the ringing of a bell". 1
