Summary
Malik transmits from Humayd ibn Qays, from Ata ibn Abi Rabah, that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) said to Yala ibn Munya, while he was pouring water on him for washing: pour on my head. Yala said: do you want to make me responsible for it? If you command me, I will pour. Umar said: pour, for the water will only make it more tangled. The editor notes that Abu Musab, Suwayd and al-Shaybani transmitted it from Malik, and that al-Bayhaqi (5/63) and al-Shafii transmitted it from him. 1
