Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Muhammad ibn Shihab al-Zuhri
- Salim ibn Abdallah ibn Umar
Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Salim ibn Abdallah, that he heard Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) tell Abdullah ibn Umar that people in ihram at al-Rabadha asked him about game meat they found, which people not in ihram were eating, and he gave them a fatwa to eat it. Then Abu Hurayra came to Medina to Umar and asked him about it; Umar said: what did you give them as a fatwa? He said: I gave them a fatwa to eat it. Umar said: had you given them a different fatwa, I would have struck you hard. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1141) and Suwayd (574) transmitted it from Malik. 1
