Summary
Malik transmits from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Ibrahim ibn Abdallah ibn Hunayn, from his father, that Abdullah ibn Abbas (may God be pleased with him) and al-Miswar ibn Makhrama (may God be pleased with him) disagreed at al-Abwa: Ibn Abbas said: the one in ihram washes his head; al-Miswar said: the one in ihram does not wash his head. Ibn Abbas sent him to Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may God be pleased with him), whom he found bathing between two horns, covered with a cloth; he asked him how the Messenger of God ﷺ washed his head while in ihram; Abu Ayyub bowed the cloth until his head appeared, then poured water on it and moved his head with his hands, and said: this is how I saw the Messenger of God do it. The editor notes that Nafi dropped out of some copies, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr thought his mention an error by Yahya ibn Yahya. 1
