Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on fasting on the days of Mina. Malik transmits from Abu al-Nadr, client of Umar ibn Ubaydallah, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, that the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade fasting on the days of Mina. The editor notes that the relayed version in the Muwatta is the preserved one from Malik; that Sufyan al-Thawri connected it through Salim Abu al-Nadr and Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr (may God be pleased with him) from Sulayman ibn Yasar from Abdullah ibn Hudhafa al-Sahmi (may God be pleased with him); that Ibn Maʿin called it relayed; and that Ibn Abd al-Barr considered it connected through other routes. 1
