«إنا لم نرده عليك إلا أنا حرم»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on what one in ihram may not eat of game. Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Ubaydallah ibn Abdallah ibn Utba ibn Masud, from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may God be pleased with him), from al-Sab ibn Jathama al-Laythi, that he gave the Messenger of God ﷺ a wild donkey while he was at al-Abwa or Waddan, and the Messenger of God returned it to him. He said: when the Messenger of God saw what was in my face, he said: we did not return it to you except that we are in ihram. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1146), Ismail ibn Abi Uways in al-Bukhari (2573), Suwayd (571) and others transmitted it. 1
