Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on making up seclusion. Ziyad reports from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Amra bint Abd al-Rahman, that the Messenger of God ﷺ wished to enter seclusion; when he went to the place where he wanted to be in seclusion he found tents: the tent of Aisha, the tent of Hafsa and the tent of Zaynab; when he saw them he asked about them, and was told: these are the tents of Aisha, Hafsa and Zaynab; he said: is it righteousness that you intend by them? He then went away without entering seclusion, until he was in seclusion for ten days of Shawwal. The editor notes that this is an error by Yahya or Shabtun; the report from Zuhri is not preserved; the hadith belongs to Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Amra from Aisha; and that the words 'from Aisha' dropped from the transmission of all the Muwatta; and that al-Bukhari transmitted it from Abdallah ibn Yusuf from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Amra from Aisha. 1
