Summary
Malik transmits from Wahb ibn Kaysan, from Jabir ibn Abdallah, who said: the Messenger of God ﷺ sent an army toward the coast, under Abu Ubayda ibn al-Jarrah (may God be pleased with him), three hundred men, and Jabir was among them. When they were on part of the road, their provisions ran out. Abu Ubayda gathered the army's provisions, and there was a two-sack bag of dates; he gave them a little each day until it ran out, and they had only one date each. Then they reached the sea, where there was a fish like a hill; the army ate from it for eighteen nights. Then Abu Ubayda ordered two of its ribs raised, and a camel was led under them without touching them. Malik said: al-zarib is a small hill. 1
