Summary
Malik transmits from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jabir ibn Abdallah, that a Bedouin pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ on Islam, then fell ill in Medina and came to the Prophet asking to be released from his pledge. He refused, then came back and refused again. The Bedouin left, and the Prophet said: Medina is like a furnace; it expels its impurity and its goodness shines. 1
