Summary
A saying of Malik: no one should inherit from another on doubt; one inherits from another only with certainty of knowledge or by witnesses. This is because a man may die with his client, whom his father freed, and the sons of the Arab man say: our father inherited him. They have no right to inherit without knowledge or witness that he died before him, and he is inherited by the nearest of the living to him. 1
