Summary
A saying of Malik in the chapter on the command to perform ablution for one who touches the Qur'an: no one should carry the codex by its strap or on a cushion unless he is pure, for if that were allowed it would be carried by its binding. The editor explains that the dislike is not a fear that something on the hand of the carrier would soil the codex, but is for one who carries it while impure, out of honour and respect for the Qur'an. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it from Malik. 1
