Summary
The first report in the chapter on striving on Friday. Yahya transmits that he asked Ibn Shihab about the Friday verse that orders striving to the remembrance of God when the call to prayer is made. Ibn Shihab told him Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) used to recite it as "go on to the remembrance of God", an explanatory reading that makes clear the meaning is going, not hurrying. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it. 1
