Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Abu al-Nadr, client of Umar ibn Ubayd Allah, from Malik ibn Abi Amir, in the chapter on listening quietly on Friday while the imam preaches: Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) used to say in his sermon, almost always, "When the imam stands to preach on Friday, listen and be quiet, for the one who is quiet and does not hear has the same share as the one who is quiet and hears. When the prayer is established, straighten the rows and align the shoulders, for straightening the rows is part of completing the prayer". Then he would not begin the takbir until men came who had been assigned to straighten the rows and told him they were straight. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab, Suwayd, Abd al-Razzaq and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan transmitted it. 1 2
