«ما أخذت سورة يوسف إلا من قراءة عثمان بن عفان إياها في الصبح، من كثرة ما كان يرددها لنا»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Sa'id and Rabi'a ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, in the chapter on recitation at dawn: al-Furafisa ibn Umayr al-Hanafi said he had memorised the surah of Yusuf only from Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him)'s recitation of it in the dawn prayer, from how often he repeated it. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab, Ibn Wahb in al-Tahawi, al-Shafi'i and Yahya ibn Bukayr in al-Bayhaqi transmitted it. 1
